Surabaya (beritajatim.id) – To ensure students make informed decisions regarding their future education, SMP SAIM Surabaya has introduced an early career guidance program. This initiative culminated on Saturday, August 10, 2024, with 9th-grade students presenting their career proposals to their parents.
As part of the school’s Future Pathways Day, students invited their parents to school to showcase their career plans, aiming to gain their support. With guidance from teachers, students created presentations that outlined their strengths, talents, interests, and future educational plans. They also discussed the elective subjects they plan to take, all carefully selected to align with their long-term career goals.
Dr. Ratna Mutiara Sari, Head of FORSAIM SMP, expressed her gratitude towards SMP SAIM for providing early career guidance. “This greatly helps parents in continuing their support at home,” she said.
Isna Maslikha, S.Pd., Head of SMP SAIM, emphasized the importance of this event. “As the job market evolves, it’s crucial for students to have a clear understanding of their career objectives, along with the skills and knowledge needed to achieve them,” she stated. She also highlighted the role of Career Center and Homegroup Teacher in helping students visualize their path to success.
Muhammad Agha’s father, one of the parents in attendance, expressed his appreciation for the program. “It’s great, Ustadzah, that they’ve been guided like this since junior high,” he said, acknowledging the value of early guidance and support in children’s development.
The event was well-attended, with many parents showing enthusiasm and being impressed by the maturity and foresight displayed by their children in planning their future. (hdl)
